In 2022, AYB-Water served as the facilitator consultancy for a European corporation’s exploratory mission to a SADC member state. The engagement included high-level consultations with the Ministry of Water and Sanitation and various Commercial Utilities (CUs). This five-day visit focused on conducting a comprehensive business intelligence assessment of the local water sector.
The exercise identified critical operational requirements, primarily centered on infrastructure modernization and the urgent need for water supply network expansion to accommodate rapid urbanization and newly developed districts. Furthermore, the assessment highlighted non-revenue water (NRW) as a primary area of concern. It was estimated that addressing these infrastructure and operational gaps would require an investment exceeding $100 million USD. The mission concluded with the delivery of a comprehensive action report by AYB-Water, providing the investor with actionable strategic insights and project recommendations.

In 2014, AYB-Water successfully facilitated a €1 million infrastructure project by matching a European equipment investor with key stakeholders at a SADC commercial utility. Through on-site engagement and strategic needs assessment, the consultancy delivered 10 actionable recommendations that effectively bridged the gap between investor capabilities and project requirements, leading to the successful implementation of a new water treatment plant.
In 2016, a successful strategic engagement in West Africa facilitated the introduction of a key investor to the regional Ministry of Water and its associated technical departments. This collaboration was formalized through the signing of Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs), which effectively bridged the gap between private investment and public infrastructure requirements.
